Retirement Plan Administrator
In September 2021, Nicole took one of her most unforgettable trips to Brazil, where she found one of her true passions: FOOD! (Who doesn’t love it, am I right?) If Nicole’s given the option to choose between savory or sweet, without hesitation, she’ll always choose her ice cream.
Some hobbies Nicole appreciates, while she is not at work, include: running & exercising outdoors, getting a suntan at the beach, traveling, or experimenting with new recipes.
Fun fact about Nicole: Although English is not her native language, she is fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese! Nicole was born and raised in the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. She moved to Tampa, FL, in 2012 to pursue one of the sports she is most devoted to, volleyball. Nicole then moved to Brownsville, TX, where she attained her Bachelors as a Student-Athlete at the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley. During this time, she met the love of her life and now-husband, Victor. Together they have a new Basset Hound and Great Pyrenees mix fur baby, Goku.
Nicole’s dream is to continue learning about new cultures and helping people during her journey. As a true Pisces, she believes in ensuring the happiness of those around her.
With a clear vision, integrity, and leadership along the way, Nicole joined the CPS team in June 2021 as a Retirement Plan Administrator. She focuses on assisting with anything retirement plan-oriented.
Human Resources Manager
When Susan is not busy with HR responsibilities, she can often be found sailing in the Tampa Bay area. She has been sailing for almost 2 decades, participating in regattas as racing crew and cruising with friends. Susan shares her enthusiasm for sailing as a volunteer with Sailability Greater Tampa Bay, helping to make sailing accessible for all. She recently participated in a Sailability project that provided kids in wheelchairs their first sailing experience!
Susan’s other passion is travel. She has been to almost 20 countries, often traveling solo with just a small backpack. She loves experiencing new cultures and meeting new people, staying in touch with some who have become friends. Her travels have ranged from the Azores to Crete to all 7 of the United Arab Emirates. Her recent travels include Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Nova Scotia. She is planning her next trip to visit friends in the Netherlands and Turkey.
Since Susan loves adventure, you may not be surprised to learn that she joined the U.S. Air Force shortly after her 17th birthday! She spent 10 years in the Air Force as a buyer and contract administrator, living in Colorado, Alaska, Texas, Spain, and Maine. Susan left the Air Force after serving in Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield and settled in Maine.
Susan spent the next 10 years of her career as a social worker providing case management, residential treatment and family mediation services for kids with mental health and substance abuse issues. Although she loved this work and the Maine winters (yes- really!), she relocated to Lakeland in 2005.
Susan earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Maine. She completed her certificate in Human Resources at the University of South Florida. She is a Senior Certified Professional through the Society of HR Management, and a Senior Professional in HR through the HR Certification Institute.
Susan joined CPS as the HR Manager when Baylis & Company and CPS merged in December 2020. As an HR Generalist with more than 15 years of experience, she handles the full range of HR services including compliance, benefits administration, and payroll. Susan has implemented HR technology solutions to streamline processes for the staff and management team. She also provides some HR services and consulting for the Firm’s clients.
Being the son of two immigrant parents and seeing them sacrifice to give him an opportunity, Sam has always been aware of how hard people work to support their families. So, in middle school when he found out about investing and passive income through a stock simulator game, he felt excitement and an immediate need to become financially literate and help others do the same.
Sam is a dedicated Portfolio Analyst, USF graduate, adventurer, and lifelong learner whose ambition is to assist people to reach their dreams and financial goals. Since joining CPS in March of 2021, Sam was awarded the Investment Foundations certificate by the CFA institute. He is currently studying for his Series 65 license and aspires to become a Chartered Financial Analyst.
His dream is to help people become financially free so they do not have to worry about money and can live life to the fullest paying attention to the things that really matter in this short life. When not at work you can find Sam at the gym, traveling, reading a book, making YouTube videos as Adventure Sam, and experiencing the best that life has to offer.
A true Florida native, Eric’s family lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Plant City and is now settled in Lakeland, Florida. His desire to be a part of something bigger than himself led him to fall in love with soccer. It is through this sport that Eric found qualities such as sacrifice, commitment, and putting in the hard work in order to succeed. He also attributes soccer to many of the life-long friendships he gained throughout the years.
It is these friendships that led to another passion of Eric’s, and that is traveling and exploring. Upon graduating at the University of Florida, he and a few of his friends left America to explore Europe. “It was the trip of a lifetime”, and on a shoestring budget he was able to explore Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Czech Republic, and the Netherlands. Eric wraps it up by saying that the journey was much more impactful than the destination, that what he learned about himself and the world was much more meaningful than what he saw. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but the story is worth a million more.
Eric also looks up to his father for instilling in him the passion of music. He has fond memories of singing made up songs with his dad and performing for the family. He often would sit and listen to his dad play on the porch swing and dream about connecting with others through the creativity of music. Eric enjoys writing songs in leisure, but it wasn’t until 2020 that he decided to pick up an instrument and learn to play. “After having a daughter of my own, I thought about all those fond memories I had as a child, and decided I wanted to be able to give that to my daughter as well.” The instrument of choice is the baritone ukulele. It has a sound more similar to guitar rather than the typical ukulele sound. Eric plans to be able to play well enough to write and play Christian songs for local ministries. To Eric, music is the universal love language.
When Eric isn’t busy helping clients achieve financial peace through financial planning, he enjoys spending time with his wife Christina, daughter Olivia, and their chocolate lab Remington. Eric and Christina share a passion for philanthropic charities among the greater central Florida communities. He is active with United Way Central Florida, Central Florida Speech and Hearing, Early Learning Coalition of Polk County, Lakeland Kiwanis, and a board member of Friends of Bonnet Springs Park. To Eric, it all comes back to love. To quote a favorite book of his from ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’, “The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.”
