Derek M. Oxford, CFP®, is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and ACCREDITED ESTATE PLANNER™ is equal parts financial guru, charismatic philanthropist, sartorialist, and fun-loving family man. Derek, with his wife, Tiffany and two awesome children: Cullen and Kinsley, can be found enriching scouts with invaluable outdoor skills, dribbling a soccer ball at a city park, or just crushing it at the gym advocating health and wellness.
Before joining CPS Investment Advisors in 2008, Derek honed his financial skills on the Merrill Lynch Institutional Trading Desk and Fidelity Investments College Planning Desk. Derek brings a wealth of knowledge from his degree in Finance from Florida State University with skills in trading, analysis, and financial planning. Derek’s motivation is building rock-solid relationships with clients through comprehensive financial planning and prudent investment advice.
Derek’s dedication to his clients is unmatched, earning his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ in 2015 and his ACCREDITED ESTATE PLANNER® designation in 2020. He’s constantly striving to learn so he can better serve his clients. The AEP®, through the National Association of Estate Planning Council (NAEPC), is a designation only given to those with at least 15 years of direct estate and financial planning experience. Candidates must also already be an attorney (JD), insurance professional and financial planner (CLU/ChFC®, CFP®) or trust officer (CTFA).
Derek’s hard work and dedication in leadership have not gone unnoticed. He received the Polk Emerging Leaders Award in 2017, voted by his peers for his servant leadership style. He is still active with many community groups including: The Estate Planning Council of Polk County (currently President), The Rotary Club of Lakeland TigerTown (former President), Troop 713 Assistant Scoutmaster and Treasurer, Central Florida Development Council and Lakeland Economic Development Council, and a Lakeland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Derek is a Leadership Lakeland graduate, class XXXIII as well as Leadership Polk graduate, class XIII.
